HAZARDOUS CARGO TRANSPORT BY INLAND NAVIGATION SHIPS
Inland navigation constitutes the safest type of transport. Every year, approximately 50 million tons of hazardous cargo is transported that way. Hazardous cargo includes liquid materials, such as:
- products based on mineral oils and oil
- chemical substances and products,
as well as solid materials, such as
- sodium,
- aluminum powder and
- rubber residues.
The transportation of hazardous cargo is subjected to strict regulations in Europe. One has to meet special safety requirements set forth in the regulation on the transportation of hazardous cargo (ADNR) in order to transport such cargo by inland navigation ships on waterways.
Inland navigation ships of Odratrans are adjusted for the transportation of hazardous cargo and they have the required equipment. Additionally, captains of Odratrans’s ships possess required permits as well as the necessary experience in the field of safe transportation of such cargo.
